Anyone able to ID this coral. Hard skeleton medium polips. It’s local to south was Florida. My 7 year old son was trying to catch crabs at our local inlet and broke a piece off in the net. I found it when we got home. Soooo of course i tried to grow it. It grows fast. Not much for cool colors.
 
Following, that’s very interesting. Almost seems similar to cyphastrea but a different growth pattern. Very cool find

Thank you. Ya i totally couldnt resist growing it out. Started the size of a large frag. That was 7 months ago.
 
I think its called oculina

Some are non photosynthetic, but mostly the deeper water species. As you found this with a net assuming photosynthetic lol.
