Is this turbinaria? I’ve this coral for couple of months now and I haven’t seen good polyp extension on it. Any advice?

I concur with @James M. Looks like a leather or more specifically a toadstool leather. Turbinaria would be hard to the touch. Leathers are well leathery!

It is as hard as a acropora to touch, just like a sps. Definitely it’s not a leather coral.

Looks like turbinara reniformis. They don't get extreme polyp extension. Looks healthy to me.

Thanks that’s what I was looking for generic name. As seeing other turbinaria on net made me feel it isn’t doing good. Do you have any experience with it?

Looks like the picture threw me for a loop! Since it’s hard I agree it’s turbinara. I’ve not seen them have such a base before but must just be how that one grew. Or maybe I’m just use to seeing frags!

Hahaha... yeah the it has pretty big base. Honestly I’m not very happy with this coral. The polyp extension is nothing compared to what I’ve seen on other turbinara’s, but then maybe it’s a different specie of turbinaria.

There are two species of Turbinaria: Peltata (Turban) which has large polyps and Reniformis (Scroll) which has smaller polyps. Yours is the Reniformis which has smaller polyps which may be the reason why you are disappointed in the coral because the Peltata characteristically has polyps that extend further out.

Thanks bro you’re right. Yes @DSCreefer also rightly pointed it to reniformis. Kicking myself for the purchase ‍♂️

Hey, I forgot to mention that the Turbinaria coral like a pretty good water flow and intense lighting. Plus, if you feed a food like Coral Vibrance, Frenzy or Reef Roids, that will also help with coloration and polyp extension.
Oh yeah, one other thing...if you no longer want the coral, I will gladly take it off of your hands! Lol

Yeah it’s in a good water flow and moderately low lighting. I do feed my tank reef roids.
Lol you can very well take it, but it’ll be a very expensive coral, as either you’ve to come to India or bear the shipping lol! XD
