Can anyone help me ID this coral? LFS told me it was a soft coral similar to a GSP - he thought it was a “tubular something or other”.

Could be organ coral (Tubipora musica). It forms red tube structures that compress together. Cool coral. It is considered a soft coral (Octocoral).

Looks like either a pipe organ or could be a clove polyp. Pipe organs are sort of in between soft and stony corals. They make red calcareous tubes and will use alk and cal similar to a stony coral but they don’t actually have a skeleton. Clove polyps don’t form the calcareous tubes, but they do have this weird network of tubes that kind of form a mat. They’re both interesting corals, for sure.

That looks a lot like it. Pretty cool. Hoping it will add a little movement to my nano reef - I didn’t want Xenia to take over.
