I am trying to find out what this coral is called, so I can do some more research on it:
It used to extend like this, but lately doesn't. Google search (images) did not bring up any results.

Very distant pic that cannot be expanded but agree may be toadstool. If you can do a closer pic under white lighting- it will be a reassurance

I assume its a toadstool, but I want to know whether it's shedding or dying.

On a completely different note: May I ask how you guys know whether your torch coral is pooping or infected with BJD? I think I threw away one which was pooping, thinking it was brown jelly and it has ever since broken my heart.

Looks to be just a little mad. Give it time. They go through periods of retracting polyps all the time.

For the torch, first off confirm before throwing it away. BJD is a very gooey substance on the corals and the coral will generally be disintegrated under it. Take it our (if you can) in a separate tub, blow off with turkey baster. If the flesh under is nasty and dead, it was BJ. If it looks fine, just closed up, it is not BJ.

Toadstool indeed and likely not receiving enough flow or elevated phosphate or trying to shed. These coral get a film on their surfaces when flow is inadequate or with shedding. Take a turkey baster and give the top gentle bursts of water. Then aim flow towards it, not at it.
Adding iodine and potassium and even iron to water often boosts their mood. For Aptasia, Using syringe or pipette, inject either lemon juice or better yet. . kalkwasser powder mixed with tank water into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the very center core and it will melt away

They're too many for me to do and in very nasty spots. I am hoping a copperband would do the trick, but I've heard that's either a hit or miss and they are very difficult to keep, so I am hesitant. My phosphates according to the ICP which came in yesterday was 0.14 (0.11 on hanna ULR). How much flow should they receive? I am hesistant on amping up the wavemakers due to the torches.

Yeah... in that case it was poop and I screwed up. Man that's a bummer... 100 bucks down the drain and a dead coral even though it was healthy as no other.

Copperband is hit and miss.
For Aptasia- You cant beat a Kleini Butterfly BUT must be the bluehead- NOT the yellow version. The yellow will go after coral too but bluehead as pictured will eat aptasia like candy, then eat all dry and frozen food offered, colorful, friendly and stays small.

For the sake of clarity: I can determine whether it's a bluehead due to the blue stripe on its head, correct? I am reading here that they're also a hit or miss and that they're difficult eaters. Basically the same as the copperband... but in your experience this is not the case, correct? If you're positive in regards to it, I'll order one today. https://coralandfishstore.nl/nl/zeeaquarium-vissen/vlinder-en-pincetvissen/cheatodon-kleinii-s.html Please see the following link as reference for what I am going to buy. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated! I've tried nudibranches, 3 of them (I know, not nearly enough), but they have seem to vanished.

They eat like crazy. I swear mine would eat bird seed if I offered it
