I love corals and I hate to see one not do well. Therefore, I was in a pet store and I saw this stony coral lying at the bottom of the tank among shells. I aks the girl in the store about it and she said it does not look that good. I asked her could I purchase it and try to revive it. She sold it to me for $5.00 however, I have no idea what type it is and she did not know since the main owner was not there. Can someone identify this coral? I am not sure if it is alive or dead. However, I want to try to save it.Thanks

Looks like a coral skeleton. Not sure what type of coral it was/is? I would say the coral itself has been dead a long time though .

Should I take it out of the tank or wait a day and see what happens? Can the skeleton be toxic to my tank?

Thank you!! I will keep in in for a day or two and see if anything branches from it. I will let you know if I get a surprise.

I think your LFS just sold you a piece of coral rubble. Coral that has been dead for years and ground up and used for tank substrate. I would waiver on the side that you got played and lost $5 O_o IMO
