Hi everyone,

I have a number of zoas in my tank that are not opening all the way (The gobstoppers in pic next to Super Sayins). I'm trying to figure it out. All were switched from a bio cube to 45 gal frag tank but it's been over a month. Some of my zoa's did the same in my cube, not sure why but getting concerned when some do this for too long and don't ooen again and die off. ( I have added calcium and alkalinity) here are my parameters:
salinity 1.024
temp 77.2
calcium 358
alkalinity 8.2
ph 8.4
nitrate .2 - .5
mag 1470

It is highly likely that it is related to the tank switch. Even if everything was 100% the same (rock and all), just disturbing the bacteria is enough to shake things up a little. Likely won't be an issue, but it will stabilize over time.

If you added new rock/new sand, there might be more instability to come. Just keep an eye on your parameters and adjust as needed.

Hey everyone,
So still having same issues with zoas not opening fully or at all. I have been feeding morento bring my nitrates up, though in one week i've come up from .5 to near 5ppm, I think it's started building some. Rest of my parameters pretty constant:

I am wondering about my lights, they are not the same, one side is a red sea reef light I have at 62% blue 6% white.
The other light is just a chinese black box running at 60% blue.

Alot is doing well but the zoas, some are good some are not. I'm a little lost. At some point soon I do want new lights anyways but I think either of these lights should make zoas grow unless something else is off?

Salinityn1.024
temp 77.4
calcium 381
alkalinity 8.1
ph 8.4
nitrate 5.0 ppm jump up
mag 1275
