Coral lights

I started with this, and then added strip LED lights when I moved to having SPS in my reef. This is plenty, however, for anything else you may want to keep. You didn’t say if you had a canopy or wanted to hang from the ceiling, etc. The 48 inch model is $129.95 free shipping. The seller also sells replacement parts such as ballasts, etc. Just ask if you have any other questions.

OK... there are several different opinions here (imagine that) Does anyone care to back their opinion with actual data? Energy cost, replacement cost, growth factor? We can argue this to death (again) or we can actualy provide some data?

2 months under Noops. Grew about half of an inch taller and added quite a bit to the base.

Maybe not scientific or growth rates, but all my corals seem to enjoy their tans from @noopsyche lights.

Nobody is saying that these lights won't grow coral and nobody is saying that's one is better than other. They grow coral well.

Lol well I see lots of opinions here.
I'm with the oddysea t5 fixture. My 1st real light. I got the 24" 4 bulb but my tank was smaller. Ull need a 36-48" light. Oddysea are good though. I do recommend swapping the bulbs for ati or griessman bulbs when u can afford it. Bulbs are only good for 9-12months too depending on dimming and length of time schedule.

Just wanted to post these here. I know they’re quite a bit outside your budget, but they are an excellent deal and would allow you to grow anything:

Just to add to the banter -- budget of $150 would be tough (for LEDs) for a 60 gallon tank.
I'll throw this out as an idea (which is similar to what I'm doing on a 40 gallon):

You could light half your tank and just start with corals on one side of your tank.
Use your existing light for visual on the other half of your tank.

With your budget in mind, personally, I'd go with these over half your tank (to start corals there) and then add a second light on the other half later:

SmatFarm 95w LED

*they used to be cheaper and seem like price is going up and up monthly -- enjoy
