I am looking for a very rare preferably soft coral that would make me a little bit of money. Obviously I’m not talking about profit just money to help pay for salt or etc… I was thinking of selling on eBay.
I was thinking a very rare zoa or something like a neon green sinularia.
What are your thoughts?

Wrong reason to do it.

I frag mostly not to support the hobby, but because i need to trim.
Your not going to get much off softies. Possibly the best payout is from a Wada Koji, a Deep Water Japanese Weeping Williow, or a True Yellow Leather.

The profitable Zoa's do not grow that fast, and mostly require a tank of its own.

But I would not hold your breathe in making any profit. Even the guys who sell coral on the FS, i don't know how many of them actually break even.

I can't think of any one or two coral that would do that. If there were, we would all have it!

The best I can say is the OG Bounce. They get big enough to cut after 6-12months and sell for an okay price.

I have 1 available. Otherwise, I think you're looking for something you likely won't find.

The general rule with zoas is if it's expensive, it probably melts. So be careful.

I'm not sure how many people realize that money from hobby sales like this need to be reported as income. Ebay (or whoever handles the funds transfers) will report to the IRS any sales that total $600 or more in a calendar year (though sales less than that are legally obligated to be reported voluntarily).

This might make a difference in any side hustle plans.
