Anyone have any insight on how coral produce mucus and other corals don't respond well to thst mucus and chemical warfare.

I think a portion of our unhappiness with coral growth may stem back to competing corals sensing each other mucus in a small glass box

Some corals produce this substance while some do not. For those that do, the mucus functions as a substrate for bacterial growth and when flowing through the water column allows its sticky surface to trap various organic particles such as bacteria. This mucus assists with the formation of enriched organic matter and microbes in the air-sea interface providing growth resources to the coral and providing energy resources also to the environment overall.

best to place"slimers"with flow toward overflows ,not crossing paths with least amount of corals as possible
