I am a beginner at coral keeping. So far I have a few LPS and soft corals. A few are doing really good like my hammer, Duncan, and Pandora paly. Just wondering what your suggestions are for easy to keep corals for a newbie.

Lots of lps are great. Frogspawn, torch, trumpet, Favias, acans ( for some people). Look through vendors and some will say the care level

I have not tried a frogspawn or torch yet. Thanks for the suggestion.

I do currently have a trumpet which doesn't look too well. When I bought it, it had 2 heads. Now it only has 1 and it is very small.

I also tried favias and acans and killed them both. Not sure what I did wrong?

Keeping corals requires stable chemistry, flow and decent lighting. While some corals are considered easy they might not do well in others tanks. Seeing your having issues I'd start checking chemistry to see if you have swings.

Most soft corals are suitable for a novice aquarist. Some SPS would be certain species of Montipora, Pavona, Porites, Seriatopora and Stylophora. As for LPS, Favites, Favia, Trachyphyllia, Blasto, Acans, Caulastrea, Euphyllia, Echinopora and Plerogyra are a good choice.
Be aware of chemical warfare and sweeper tentacles when adding corals and placement within your tank so that injury or death of a coral/s doesn’t unfold.
Also, be aware that corals require different lighting, water flow and positioning within an aquarium. You will have to research or ask to be sure you are ensuring your Corals have the best chance of success.
