I’m having high nitrates (~30ppm) I’m trying to find the source. I am only feeding nori to try to reduce nutrients. Water changes, chaeto, carbon dosing…

Curious if it could be Red Sea reef nutrition ab? I dose daily as recommended?

Probably it. I’ve been dosing 2 or 3 times a week because I have low nutrients and keep my nitrates a bit higher.

30 ppm is where my mixed reef is happiest FWIW

Reef A/B, Reef Roids and juices from frozen foods will drive nitrates up as well as lack of water changes.
To lower. . . increase water changes, reduce roids and AB feedings, protein skimming or add refugium or algae scrubber

I do 3 water changes a month. 2 are ~ 20% and one is 30%. I have a hectic schedule so I found a company to help with maint so I know two changes get done and I try to do one a month. Running a chaeto reactor. My corals don’t seem to like 30ppm. And I start to get nuisance algae in display.
I’ll cut back the ab+ and see what happens.

Thanks

How are your corals and other livestock doing? If they're doing good and you have no algae problems then I wouldn't sweat it.

Alive but not thriving. Cut back on feeding, lost some anthias. Have corals that aren’t extending polys and had some stn.

For algae, is your tank at or near a window by chance?
Are you using RODI water or tap water from the faucet?
What brand salt are you using? The next time you mix a batch, test the water before placing in tank to see if nitrates are elevated

With 30ppm nitrates you don't need to be dosing Reef Energy.

That product is designed for ULNS tanks with Nitrate under 2 ppm

I've not seen any benefit at all dosing in higher nutrient tanks, just wasting money.

Not near window
I have 7 stage ro/di system from BRS. I use tropic Marin salt. Tested a batch of salt mix already and was 0 nitrate
