Coral on snail?

A bright blue/purple shimmer caught my eye when my lazy turbo snail showed himself.

Any idea?

Looks like an encrusting gonipora.

Instead of trashing the snail you could just remove the polyps with a wire brush. You'll want to do this in a separate container of water though.
