Coral opens in dark instead of light

Hi, I got a goni frag from a friend and it was doing very well until a few days ago. For some reason, my goni closed up when the lights came on. And when my lights came on, the algae created bubbles and my water turned foggy. However at night, my water cleared up and there were no bubbles and the goni opened. This has been going on for the past 3 days. whats up with the cloudy water? I just switched from using tap water to distilled and i will be getting an rodi soon. I've been using the tap water (dechlorinated of course) for almost the past 2 months and this is only happening now. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate

I have mine in the lower mid but it was doing fine in that spot until this situation. Do you think its from the algae?

Very possible as they get irritated easily
