I have a mixed reef tank with SPS and LPS corals. I have several corals that have overtaken others. A Clove polyp has nearly completely covered my blue AOI zooanthids so they can barely be seen. I’m afraid the AOIs will die. The clove is so dense that I don’t know how to remove it without also damaging the AOIs. The same is true of a large mixed zooanthid/palythoa rock. One variety of I believe palythoa that are rather plain and drab is growing very aggressively and has taken over some nicer green bay packers zoas so that they are barely visible. The drab palythoas are also encroaching upon some beautiful bloodsucker zooanthids.

How do I thin out or “quell the herd“ of aggressively spreading corals without destroying wanted corals they have infiltrated?

Thanks

I can think of two options. If you can remove the rocks in question its getting the right tools and picking and scraping as best as possible is how I did it. Aiptasia killers like Joes juice or similar should also work on individual polyps.
