hi all, a simple question,, i am running a 13 gallon fluval, with the 16 AI prime with the light 5 inches over the water,, my question,, where in the tank do u place lepto^s, candy canes & favia,, i^ve tried them on the bottom, in the middle & on top of the rocks,, but don^t seem to have any growth, the tank is pretty full of xenias, hammers, zoas, everything else is growing like crazy, all the parameters r normal,, its been running for over a year,, thanks in advance for helping me out,,

How do you have the light settings? 5" over the water is very close - I have it more like 13" over the water of my 25G Cube, with this for peak setting:

i copied a dr. saxby guy from england,, i use his settings,, 4 hr ramp up & 4 hr ramp down,, full lights on at 8 am,, 119, 116, 122 111 10,10, 0 10,, then ramp down starts at 5 pm,, my night lights r 0, 3, 3, 0,0,0, 1, 0

the corals you listed like medium to low light. Moving them around might be affecting their growth. You can feed the candy canes to speed things up.

Also how long are you letting them grow for? The corals in your tank are known for being very fast growers while my experience with candy canes and favias is that they take forever.

I bought a zoa and candy cane frag on December 22nd and wrote down the amount of polyps they had. Zoa was 8, now it’s at 12 or 13. Candy cane was 3 with signs of prepping to split. And it’s still 3 but it’s made progress in splitting

Yes I’m a little worried the light is too strong that close.
