Coral placement question

Sorry. Dumb question, and I hope you can see it in the photo, but I have a bunch of blue ridge that I don’t care too much for.....

It is on the right side of the rock going into the “divot” where I placed this orange/Red monti-cap or whatever it is......

The blue ridge is literally encrusted iver the rock under it.

Will this Monti-cap be aggressive enough to out-compete it, or will I need to smother/kill/chip-off the blue-ridge first?

IMO, I think the blue ridge will win that battle.

The montipora might grow up and away from the other coral so you never know. I know how it is to run out of space, lol.
