Coral placement question

Hello,
I recently bought what I think is some type of montipora. I’ve positioned it vertically but am considering moving it more horizontal only because it’s creating a shadowing effect.

It’s going to reach upwards towards the light anyways.
I’d just leave it and prune if required.

Roger, thank you. For the most part I’ve been methodical about planning or at least researching corals and fish until this impulse purchase. Hopefully it works out. Still trying to figure out what exactly it is
