Hey all you reefers!

Got my tank up and started the cycle.

I was hoping for some help on where to place coral on my tank.

Heres a shot of the tank flow currently is coming from the back left corner towards the front middle. Also have a powerhead I can add to the mix if more flow is needed.

Plan on adding lps and soft coral for now. Would piltobably like to add few sps down the road.

Can add better pictures later if needed.

Want to have zoa garden also somewhere. I've seen some that were simply on the tank bottom?

Welcome to the hobby!
Coral placement is going to be dependent on each coral's needs for flow and light. SPS will need more typically, zoas less. But make sure you know exactly what each piece needs as you add them. For flow you'll want to make sure you have a random pattern, not just a single point of flow.
For lighting, I really suggest you rent/borrow a PAR meter and map you tank. Without one you are simply guessing on what the light levels are in your tank.

Your going to wait until the uglies are over before putting in coral?
Just got the feeling that once the initial cycle is done, in go the corals.
That’s never worked for me, I usually end up with the uglies on my corals, then they wither away.
This time I waited for 8 months to finish uglies and truly get rock solid chemistry.
I now see why people talk about patience in this hobby

Oh yes, I know exactly what you mean and in the past, lost a lot of stuff.

Running 27 years but this tank was rebuilt about 36 months ago. Every 5 years I rebuild.
Sure, some fish, just go slow, start with the most peaceful first.
This way your beneficial bacteria will grow proportionately with the additional load.
and sure, some softies, they are usually cheap and quite hardy.

I started adding LPS and SPS as soon as I seen coralline algae building.

Thanks for the input im leaning towards adding a fish first but what is a good one to start with in terms of being peaceful?

I Fo want to end up putting a couple clowns in but not first as the ones will probably be some kind of designer style.

I want to get a nice hardy peaceful fish 1st to start.

Any recommendations?

Have been contemplating a chromis possibly?

Whatever fish you decide on, make sure you check it’s level of aggressiveness before adding. If you want to add more fish, it’s best to start with the least aggressive first. More aggressive fish tend to be less of an issue if there are other fish in first.

OK thanks but do you have some fish that you would consider less aggressive to start with?

a purple or red firefish....
Peaceful and easy to find, reasonable price, good colour.
Needs places to retreat.
Example of the purple, also red but can be almost double in price.

as for coral placements a “general” rule of thumb Is keep like with like .

most websites say whether they keep them top3rd
Middle or bottom
There are also some great videos on which corals can go on the sand bed

If you want your Firefish in your Tank and not on the Floor, make sure your get a Net Tank Top.
They jump when they get spooked, and sometimes out. Other fish do that too so check before you buy and prepare before you bring one home. It can happen in minutes, days, weeks, etc
