Coral Placement??

I need some help deciding where to put a couple corals I’ll be getting in my 29 g nano cube.

the two corals are a torch coral and a neon green toadstool leather. Trying to decide where in the take to locate them. The return is back left and then I have two powerheads (back center and back right)

let me know your thoughts and why.

It really depends on how you want the setup to be like eventually. Are you planning to get any sps corals down the road?

Torch corals can sting other corals, leather corals can release toxins. They both enjoy good amount of light.

So. If you are doing lps only, I would suggest torch on one side, and leather coral on the other.

I don’t have the frags yet, planning stage still.

not planning on any SPS. Was originally thinking to put the leather on the right as its closest to the overflow to maybe minimize toxins. But then the island on the left has a great ledge that I wouldn’t be able to use due to the torch stinging it.

Torches at 3 and 4, toadstool at 1 (or 2).

If not, torch at 5 so that it's gonna be far from other corals down the road

Would a torch at #2 be too much light?

I don’t know of any high light demand corals I plan on keeping in the LPS family and I have heard that torches get better coloration with higher lighting?

true? Thoughts?

Leathers like it a bit higher - torches seem to prefer mid height.

You can always adjust the light intensity of your light set. The main question should be, are the other corals you intend to keep needs more light than torch? If yes, the torches goes low, and you turn up the lights. If not, the torch can be kept high, and you can turn down the lights if necessary. Imo this is the better thought process.

Only other planned additions would be more zoas, ricordea, Duncan, acans, blastos, and maybe an elegance.

the biocube I’ve got doesn’t allow for dialing down the LED intensity but I can decrease the photo period.

Then I would say keep the torch higher up. Two reasons, 1, they do enjoy good amount of light. And 2, the sweepers are less likely to touch other corals.
