coral plug question

I have a few coral frags I can't mount where I want while connected to the plug. For at least one of them, I also can't take the coral off the plug since it is several branches glued to the base.

How difficult is it to cut the stem off the plug? These look to be ceramic plugs to me. Any tips on how to do this?

Done it this way for years works great.

At most, prop the disc on something firm and pop the stem with a little hammer. I like side-cutters better if they work.

I have used utility and exacto knives too, on the little delicate ones.
