I saw a picture, of course I cant find it now, but it showed zoas on a rock then upside down frag plugs in the sand tight up against bottom of that rock. Has anyone done this? Is this to stop the spread onto sand? Do zoas often spread to sand if it doesnt move much ie bigger sand?

Haven’t done that personally... could be for dragging purposes.. none of mine have ever spread to the sand bed might be possible if it’s large crushed coral! I know of people who mount their plate corals on upside down frag plugs !

Zoas will totally grow into the sand bed if they are not disturbed. It makes it easier to frag them too.
