Ok so I bought some corals and they have the long butt plugs on them is there a way to separate that bc it looks like **** in my tank lol

I have a pair of bone cutters and I either take the coral off gently (if not encrusted or a softie) OR I cut the stem of the plug off at the base. I have even been known to cut bits off around the base if a softie so I have little showing. I hate plugs also.

Mine normally come on frag plugs! Whatever you do, don't reuse them for... anything else. A lot of corals secrete toxins! That would make for an uncomfortable night and an embarrassing trip to the ER!

Oh dang I did not know this!!

This was supposed to be a bad joke based on the way that your original post was automatically edited by the website 's software.
Took me a minute on that one. At first I was like “what is this guy talking about I reuse frag plugs all the time….ooooooh don’t reuse them for *other reasons ha ha”

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week.

Bone cutters to remove it or position the plug so that the coral encrusts it. I have done both. Here is one where I left the entire plug and stem.
