I'm expecting some new acro beauties at the end of this week. So the 55G fish QT was taken down and this got set up:

Tunze 6015 for extra movement. The HOB filter and Matrix in the bag are already fully seeded from fish QT duty (no copper).
The light was a standard Aqueon hood light that came with my original 36B tank. I upgraded the guts to a 55W CF years ago and it has a nice 50/50 bulb in it. Hopefully it's enough to keep the frags happy for a while. Good enough you think?

That light will not work for coral I’m afraid, especially not sps. :( Also without a skimmer you’ll need to do frequent water changes otherwise you’ll have algae issues. The rest looks to be good!

Here is a pic of my 40 breeder qt setup. Those lights aren’t going to cut it. I am running an ecotech radion xr30w. Maybe look into an ai prime hd or pick up an older generation radion on the buy/sell forum. Cheapest I would go with would probably be a mars aqua.

Thanks both! I know it can support some coral from back when I had it on my first reef tank (2012). Looking back at photos from then:

I have fresh bulbs in it but it's certainly not ideal. I do have a 250W MH sitting in a box - never bothered trying to sell it. If I can rig a way to hang it...

250W of good old fashioned MH. Kinda glad I've never bothered selling it:

Also set up a 15G next to it for some small fish QT I'll probably be doing in parallel.
