Coral QT Tank & Cycling

I just got back from MACNA the other day with $250 in corals I didn't expect to win. They're in a QT tank.

Will the tank cycle? Is it okay to add phytoplankton and amino acids? Do I just test for ammonia and do large water changes?

Advice is appreciated. I just put a sponge in the sump of my DT tank.

Is there any established filtration?

My DT is established. Lots of sand, but the rock is too big unless I break some.

Put a sponge filter in your sump for a week or so to get colonized then put it in your qt

Guess I'll transfer some of my sand in a tupperware container and move the small sponges over in 30 days.

I have a Seachem ammonia alert badge in the tank. So far nothing.
