Recently set up a 10G fishless coral QT tank. The tank was setup with 100% DT water, 1/3 of a Brightwell dimpled brick (new but soaked in RODI for a few weeks), and Dr Tims 1 and only. I have had a Digi in the tank for a couple of weeks and it is doing fine.

My plan is to do my water changes for the QT tank with 100% DT water. Is this OK, or would it be preferable to use 100% fresh saltwater?

Thanks

What’s the water parameters in the DT? If good with lower nutrients that would answer it for me....

That’s what I do. Makes for an easy transition to the display

What about trace elements? I would think trace elements that coral use and fish do not would be depleted using DT water for coral QT. I don't QT coral, so I'm probably way off base here. Just a thought.

Thanks. I dose trace in my DT, so should be good. Also will only have up to 10 small frags at a time in the tank and will be doing 20%+ water changes a couple of times a week or more if ALK starts dropping.

Sounds like you have everything covered then. I might need to start QT'ing coral, just got a mushroom on a rock with a hydroid on it. I even dipped it in Revive.

I have been doing it a long time without a QT tank for my corals and then started reading all the horror stories here and decided better safe than sorry.
