Id like to set up a permanent coral qt. Was looking at the 6 gallon nuvo.
Comes with frag racks.

Was thinking equipment wise
Powerhead
Heater.
Weekly wc (its 6 gallons [emoji23]) for dosing and nutrient control.
And a light.

What would be the cheapest light light to keep sps alive for 30 days in a 8” deep tank?

I have a galaxy hydro black box im not using but this seems like overkill.

Was thinking something like this on a gooseneck. http://www.topledlight.com/12w-par3...0000k-led-bulb-lamp-aquarium-light_p2101.html

12 watts will not be enough for sps. Try a Kessil a 80 or a Prime. You can find them used for a fairly reasonable amount.

I think you’re going to struggle to keep sps alive in a 6 gallon QT. Parameters won’t be stable. Also I would recommend using the same kind of lighting in QT as you do in your main tank.
Well same light makes sense, why acclimate twice lol. So another ai prime it is.
What would your recommendation be for a barebones invert QT?

Id would prefer smaller as easier to clean out detritus as well as place. Would a diy aws make this more doable?
Say two 5 gallon buckets, timer pump and overflow?
And perhaps instead of wave maker hob with matrix?
The room itself has a steady temperature of 70 degrees.

In my opinion, 20 gallon tank, piece of live rock, frag racks, small/nano skimmer and your AI prime. Plus powerhead/heater. Be prepared to do water changes every few days. The less stable your QT is the more sps you’re going to lose. :/

Ok, so setup my old 20 gallon in the adjacent room.
Right now will light with my old black box light. So far at the its free stage lol.
Not buying corals for a few months so will keep dry and add some matrix to my display for when ready to purchase. Instead of a sump might setup 2, 5 gallon buckets to do continuous wc.
Can you drill an hob overflow weir?

Add water with a brs .1 pump connected to some float valves?

How did you make out with your Coral QT set up?

I had a dino outbreak. So it’s currently a macro algae qt running a kessil h80 with nsw and silica sand ill remove the silica sand and change the light to a prime when my dino outbreak ends.

Sounds like you have it planned out. I've only dealt with dinos once and luckily I was able to get rid of it quickly.
