Im trying to transfer coral from one of my tanks to the other.
Temp I can get the same but the salinity would go from 1.025 to 1.023.
Can I drip these to the lesser salinity and be ok or do I have to match the salinity. I have hard and soft corals moving over.
Moving the salinity from 1.023 to .025 would take some time on this 175gallon tank.

Soft corals really won't mind the difference... hard corals I would be a little more methodical. Drip the more sensitive Corals over an hour, no need to frustrate the existing corals in you tank by changing the salinity. When dripping ensure your not getting more than around a drop per second slow and steady.

Ill try that out. I did a 20gallon water change last night with 1.030 water and it didn't budge the salinity of the tank. Its still reading 1.023. Ill try to keep upping the salinity (trying to waste whats left of the IO reef crystals). Maybe do another water change tonight or tomorrow also at 1.030.

NO NEED to change your display tanks salinity. IF you prefer it at a higher level do so by topping off with saltwater.

I thought 1.023 was too low for corals? Everyone tells me that 1.025 is recommended.
Ill just monitor just salinity and get it back up with water changes over time.

1.023 salinity will correlate to lower alk, cal, levels. I would worry about those parameters because those can actual kill corals. salinity, not so much.

I checked the other day and they were not bad.
PH- 8.2
Alk- 7.9
Cal- 460
Phos- .02
Mag- 1410
Nitrates- 0 (I dosed and now its near 10)
Just low salinity at 1.023 at the moment.

then you don't have to worry about it, bring it up slowly with water changes.
