Coral sexual propagation questions

Has anyone ever thought about sexually reproducing corals? i know triggering spawning itself and "sexing" your colonies gender would be difficult but once they spawn would raising coral from the larvae phase be all that hard? would it not be like jellyfish just add somewhere for the planula to settle and develop into a colony?

Jamie Craggs in the UK is doing great work with spawning Acropora and getting them to settle. So is the SECORE group. Oddly, the endangered corals (A. palmata for instance) would settle easily on many substrates (one of them being aquarium heater glass) while I could never get the common Pocillopora meandrina/eydouxi to settle on any substrates, even after years of trying.
