Coral Spotlight | Micromussa

Specific colors will be more photosynthetically efficient under a given spectrum due to differences in absorption vs reflection of energy. There’s a good reason most plants are green. That said, I can’t really specify which colors will be most efficient due to differences in spectrum between different systems. Green, however, still seems to reign under a balanced spectrum even in corals.

ok, so if I had a gradient of light across the bottom of my tank perhaps from a point light source such as a Kessil, would it make more sense to move an orange acan into higher light and a green acan into lower light to create some sort of "balance".

That very well may make a lot of sense. More efficient colors in less light and less efficient ones in more light. Would be an awesome experiment to put a frag of both in both locations...
