Coral (sps) qt setup help

I think you need to let coral stay in there for 76 days (count it individually). E.X. introducing new coral won't reset the 76 days clock for the existing one.

That is what confuses me. If batch one of corals are nearly done, and you add batch 2 and in with batch 2 come ick or MV, won't those cysts or swimmers or whatever they are called, latch onto the corals in batch 1 and then transfer into your tank?

Oh, one thing I see I need to do while corals are in qt is treat with fluconazle as I do not want a return of bryopsis in my tank! Batch in qt now have lots of algae on them. Waiting for tank to settle/cycle before I hit with that

In theory if you rinse thoroughly (discard the rinse water) you will not introduce the free swimming stage ich. Only potential cyst stage on the coral will be introduce to qt. Once the cyst stage finish they will be out again and seek for host. Since there is no fish then the ich will not complete the life cycle.

This [emoji1312][emoji1312][emoji1312]. If you thoroughly rinse the corals to ensure no Trophonts pass you should be fine. Also, bear in mind that you also need to QT your cleanup crew the same way, as Tomonts may come attached to snail shells for example.

Mainly is water change and dosing. If keep SPS then light and flow will play a big role. Can do it on an AIO or a Reefer, or a HOB on a 20 gallon long... depends on what you want.

Okay, here is a pic of my fish qt redone and ready for new fish. I made a cover with egg crate as the new power filter takes too much room and my led no longer fits. I know fish don't need light but I like a couple hours to watch them. Will find a better way.

Also my coral qt which I'm not happy with. LFS suggested I add lots of rubble and rock, 5-6 lbs worth. I put it under the egg crate. Trouble is, I can't clean and the flow is stopped. Tank is going through a new cycle--hence all the brown ick. I also have a bunch of rubble with colt frags attached. I think I need to clean off the levels, move all the rubble to right under the power filter and aim a powerhead on them and leave under the corals open. I've not seen anyone with a coral frag tank with rock like this. So trying to figure out what to do. I'd think the frag plugs will act as live rock for bacteria. Any suggestions. Did toss in some fluconazle in case there is bryopsis. The algae has bloomed. Put in a bit of vibrant too

Mine is a 170. I love it. I do have a little live rock in the sump. I'll feed a little oyster feast once in a while, but I mainly rely on water changes and dosing 2 part.
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I’d like to know if you’re manually dosing or if you have dosing pumps on this set up. Thank you.
