hey guys I was wondering if there are any types of corals that will grow to slightly cover or completely cover my pvc pipes to make them a bit more attractive.

I've seen pictures of green star polyps covering a vertical surface, not sure if this would work though. You'd also have to make sure that it doesn't take over the best coral real estate

Thanks everyone! I've thought about gsp but wasn't sure about how fast it grows because I wouldn't want it to cover my over flow

How would you remove encrusting montipora if it grew to high or I wanted to remove some?
Just ship it away with a knife. That's how I trim mine up when it encroaches on other corals.

I believe cyphastrea encrusts over substrates too. It looks really cool and its a solid grower. Unfortunately it does not do great in high light.

So would I have to remove the cyphastrea from the frag plug then glue it to the pvc? And how fast does it grow?

I have had the best success in gluing a frag to the glass (in your case PVC) and letting it spread naturally onto the new surface. The growth rate is really dependant on the system but pretty fast once it settles in.

I feel you will be happier in the long run with cyphastrea. It will also be easier to sell/trade cyphastrea frags over GSP once it takes off.
