My tank is 10 months old everything was growing fine until I started noticing certain corals losing tissue. Some white spots started appearing on my monti first. Now today I noticed my litho has these white spots as well. It's weird because only the encrusters seem to be taking a hit.
Parameters: nitrates 5
Phosphates ? I have a nyos kit but I run gfo, and chemi pure.
Salinity 1.025
Mag 1410
Ph 8.2
Calcium 460

Live stock wise I have two clowns, a hippo tang ,yellow coris wrasse. I also have emerald crabs and red hermits

What are your phosphate levels? Have you changed anything recently?
My local fish store tested the phosphate and they couldn't detect it. I haven't changed anything recently other than adding more coral. I know that my phosphates were pretty low before

Drop your alk slowly is my suggestion. With low no3 and po4 you want lower alk so you dont burn anything. for example I always have super low no3 and po4 no matter what I do and keep my alk at 8.5. From everything I have read you want alk 8-9 with low nitrate and phosphate. Drop it over a week or two. Just a suggestion

Sounds good

He said he had a wrase right well I thought some wrases were not coral friendly could it be eating the coral since they are losing tissue

I have also heard of crabs eatjng coral as well have you ever witnessed it

Ok so my course of action will be to drop my dkh to 8-9 due to my low nutrients and take out the gfo and leave the chemipure and carbon
