Good afternoon to all,

Has anyone experienced their coral turning brown on the edges? I bought this one and shamefully i dont remember the name. And i recently noticed it started getting brown edges. Any help or suggestions will be great.

This coral is at mid level in a Biocube 32 with stock led lighting.

Welcome to R2R. How old is your tank? Corals turn brown when nutrients are high. your phosphate are a bit high and your alkalinity is pretty high as well, but I think your phosphates are playing a role in your current issue. Try lowering them slowly. Then try to focus on lowering your alk a bit (slowly). The coral looks like a scolymia.

Thanks for your reply. The tank is now 8 months old. I have been battling phosphates for several weeks now and for some reason its not going down. What is a good way to lower alkalinity?

Water changes with a salt mix lower in alkalinity. I'd also suggest "naturally" through consumption, but I am guessing that you don't have much consumption.

A higher Alk with elevated nutrients is ok, but you are on the higher end for sure.

As mentioned by Kevin above... water changes will help but you have to figure out why they are high to begin with. Otherwise, they will get back up there. You have a reasonably small tank and should be able to dial in certain things but things will change fast if unchecked. Takes a while for a tank to settle and mature. You will figure it out.
