Ok so this well known coral seller was suppose to go to the North Texas Reef Fanatic frag swap on August 24th in Richardson tx... and supposedly something came up and he had to cancel. .. well another club in the area decide to make their swap the same day and its not a coincidence since NTRF announced theirs way before the other one... now he is going to the other swap... if your gonna commit to something don't say that something came up and lie be a man of your word and go... especially if you aren't going just cuz your going to that swap.

North Texas Reef Fanatics is gonna have some good vendors and people there and a better raffle, I guess others were intimidated so convinced him to go to there swap, at first they only wanted members only to sell and wanted guest to pay for membership to sell at the swap and said it wasn't for vendors and all of a sudden they are letting vendors sell at the swap

This is some of the weakest trolling I have ever seen

I have been instrumental in organizing the annual swap for our Local club for the last 3 years. Take it from an organizer that things like this just happen. There are little hidden rivalries between your coral sellers that at times will seem very petty. Ive had some "forget to book airlines" only to find out later that they dont like selling against another vendor. Two clubs in the same geographical area doing swaps on the same day is idiotic and their boards shoudl get together and spread them. We do that here in TN. since MTRC is the largest one with 120+ members and a 10 year track record for swaps, we do one in april. East and west TN seperate theirs usually 3 months from ours.

my best advice, is to just roll with it. there are TONS of pretty corals available from all of the big name vendors and your locals as well. A good swap will have 2-1 locals sellers vs commercial ones. For example, this past april, we had at least a dozen Coral vendors and 20-30 locals who sold corals as well. Our turnout was close to 500. This year, I sold a bunch of coral and bought some pretty corals. I think out of the 15 frags I bought ONLY 1 was from an guy who collects his own corals and puts his name on them.

Again peeps dong worry.about it consider it growing pains.. They have better resources than us we will just keep growing and growing let them do what ever they want in other words lets do us dont worry about what anouther vendor does the best way.to be is just to ignore them and.keep moving on no need to bash tyree and the other club its not who we are we know and they know what they did makes them look petty and scared its just a bunch of grown 12 year olds.. Just drop it. And let's. Enjoy our frag swap. The best way to handle this is just to ignore them why worry what they do everytime this is brought up all u do is make them more relivant why give them that power as I stated they are just an old dog gone long in the tooth.. move on we should be proud of the factthat we worked hard who cares what the other man is doing

Don't think for a second that the vendors selling 'designer' corals will go where they think they won't sell more coral. They aren't in it to meet people, or for the love of the hobby, else they would not be selling 'branded' corals to the elite few with more money than sense.

That happens all the time. I've gone to swaps because of a certain person and when i go there's they're a no show. It's happened 3 times already. I would think if they're going to sell corals they would pic the biggest venue to make more money.

This upsets me. Someone like him should know better than to lie and welch on a commitment in order to attend a rival function down the street. This does not surprise me with the other club however. They are well known for being underhanded and disreputable. After all they scheduled their event on the same day, knowing full well what they were doing. The first event had already been scheduled for months. They are going out of their way to sabotage and punish the new club and members from the other side of town. They are making a point to pull vendors and hobbyists away like they are a business stealing clients. That is not what this hobby is about. Shameful.

I agree, lets take the high road on this and move on...Lets concentrate on making it one of the biggest swap dfw sees this year!

While I understand your frustrations and sympathize with you this is really not a good thread for the boards here at R2R as it is written. I am editing the thread so we can keep it open and you all can discuss. Thanks.

Well I guess good things happen.... We now have an even bigger name coming to our swap from across the country and bringing a lot of his signature pieces. Very exciting. Woke up a little disappointed in the way we were treated, now excited as ever. Promises to be an awesome event.
