Coral Vue regulator doesn't fit bottle...

Guys, I have worked in the industry (welding and medical gas supply) for over 10 years. If the regulator does not fit with little effort SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!!!!!! The regulator nut should match up with the cylinder valve with no problem. As far as teflon tape goes as long as you use the nylon washer with the regulator you will get a perfect seal (never use Teflon on an Oxygen cylinder). Now onto Loctite, DON'T USE IT you do not need it, it will only cause problems. If you guys need any further safety information on compressed gases, please let me know and I can forward it on to you.

The nylon or paper washer is all that is needed on the bottle connection.
There are pipe dopes or pastes that are specifically designed for gas applications that I would use on the threaded nipple. Lowes and HD both have them in the plumbing section. I owuld never use LocTite unless its something you know for sure you never want to remove which may not be the case here. What if the soft brass in the nut cross threads or wears out in the future...... LocTite is great stuff for many applications though.

Goodpoint, didnt think about the possibility of the nut crossthreading or something like that, although I should have since I seem to enjoy over tightening things LOL. I have some pipe dope from when we ran a natural gas line for our dryer, would that be the same pipe dope I'd need for this application then (nipple to regulator).

Red Loctite isn't completely permanent. Look, it's just what I and numerous other guys use. Just suggestion, not doctrine

Just wanted to update..... After sending an email to coral vue I was contacted back quite quickly. They offered to have me ship them the entire unit and replace the nut inhouse, or just ship me the nut. I figured its something I can do myself and since I bought it used (although NIB) it may not have been their screw up so save them time and costs (which inturn helps keep costs lower for consumers) and do it myself IMO their customer service was excellent!

It's too much pressure for tape. Not to mention, tape will get into the regulator body and gunk it up. Tape is fine after the regulator because pressure won't be as intense. The connection from the tank to the regulator needs to be properly sealed and it's needs to be able to handle 1000psi or higher. Red Loctite on the nipple to the regulator will semipermanently seal the connection and make it safe.

It is not too much pressure for tape. If you tape the nipple right it will not get into the regulator and "gunk it up". I have connected several nipple/nuts using teflon tape with no issue. Even the brand new stainless matheson I have had teflon tape between the body and nipple.

The rep from Coral Vue told me to simply just remove the current nipple and nut, and replace with the new ones when it comes in.... and they did not seal it with anything as I already removed the original nut and nipple that was on the regulator while I wait for the new one to come in.
