If i need to let my dt go fallow for 76 days, would it be a good time to put a few coral frags in since I don't have a coral qt? And if it's ok then how far into the 76 days can I add them?

Stock your tank up nicely with frags so you won’t get bored

be feeding and water change during fallow with corals and shrimp all kinds of action and color. On your last addition you can stand, add no more new items eighty days. Complete.
all future hard scape items pass through separate fallow and or qt

controlled vectoring inputs only, frozen feed doesn’t count as far as most studies show. harscape items and fish slime coats vector bad items

This is actually better. Closer to what you’re asking.

So if I'm understanding that right, if I put any coral in my dt I should do it on like day 1 or before of the 76 day fallow period just to be safe

Agreed some people reef months before going fallow

theres benefit to bringing up corals without fish despite the common claims

less bioload in the dt during initial phase is the prime benefit

you can use the light bioload carry ability to offset with direct coral feed, easily accessing rocks for hand guiding new algae

Building a clean up crew
building a garden, dense with well fed corals. Shrimp. 99% reef.
Add macro algae, blasterman likes to add macro algae to cycling systems it’s a great idea.

then stop one day for eighty days, enjoy and feed the reef as you wait, change water hand kill algae.
you will be set the best you can be for disease prevention. All additions afterwards come through preps, can’t break the chain of command.

reinfection by skipping fallow with a coral.

It’s been a while since I’ve read through that thread. If you keep up with what’s added and when, then I’m thinking you don’t have to reset the clock every time you add another coral.

This is a question from that thread.
I remember you saying that you need not reset the clock each time you add coral or inverts to a coral qt— rather only add those pieces that have been there 76 or 16 days depending on what they are to the display tank. Can you confirm?

Humblefish replies with this.
Tomonts cannot transfer from one coral/invert to another, so you are good to go there. The only danger would be from a free swimmer released by a tomont on a more recent coral/invert addition. To alleviate this threat you should thoroughly rinse any corals with DT water before adding them to your system.
