Obviously you already have the coral, so there is no harm (except to the coral) in keeping it and seeing what happens. It is a goniopora species, which are some of the more care intensive corals. I am by no means discouraging you from buying or attempting to keep this coral, but the truth is Gonis are an expert coral.

Above is a link to an article on the care of Gonioporas, as well as background. In this hobby knowledge is power, the more you know about the natural habitat of the species, as well as the family of corals it belongs to, the more apt you are as a hobbyist to care for it. I would research and try to establish a plan to keep this coral, that would help with long term success. But as I said, the cold truth is some people have trouble keeping these corals. In the future, always look and research what you are going to buy, it can save you money and a coral's life. However, hopefully this will be a nonissue and the coral will do well.
