Coralbox wifi doser not dosing on interval

I’m having another issue that I’ve seen posted frequently with the coral box. The dosing lines will not stay primed without a check valve. I have tubing that fits snug over all connections, and have zip tied them tightly as well. Still the dosing liquid drains back into reservoir gradually without a check valve. I ordered the reefbreeders check valves with barbs so the tubing stops slipping off my current check valves, but as I understand check valves should not be necessary with a dosing pump. Any suggestions?

One of the channels of my Coralbox doser also had the issue of losing prime frequently. There is a very easy fix. No check valves, no zip ties needed. I've not had a single incident of losing prime since the fix. The fix is not visible from outside and is completely reversible.

The trick is inside the plastic dosing head assembly. There are 3 rollers inside each assembly. They press a flexible tubing against the inner wall of the plastic housing. If it is not tight enough it may lose prime. To fix this, I cut a stripe of tape and tape it around on the inner wall of the housing (see the picture with red arrows). This made the inside space of the housing a tiny bit smaller and hence tighten the pressure a bit. The more layers of tapes you use the tighter the pressure. I put 3 layers and it permanently fixed the issue for me.

Any kind of thin adhesive tape. I use packing tape (in the photo). I trim a small stripe enough to cover the inner wall of the plastic housing. Just don’t use electrical tape as they are too thick and may likely hinder the movement of the motor. Also make sure no air bubbles trapped between the wall and the tape as it may create uneven thickness. I can take a photo and post it here tonight.

So here is a closeup of how it looks like after the tape is applied on the inside surface of the head shell. It is a really simple and effective fix. No check valves needed. I have a single layer here as a demo. You may need more layers depending on your situation.

Very creative I might give this a shot! I will say that the coral box check valves that have barbs seem to help keep the connection air tight too and stay primed better.

I do have another question regarding connecting to the doser remote. From what I can gather you Can only connect to the doser via Home WiFi and not via cell signal. Is it possible to VPN into your home network remotely to be able to make adjustments? Or is there any other way to do this?

i haven’t tried but I am positive that you can if you setup a VPN service at your home wifi network. When you VPN into your home network your phone is essentially in the same network and your dosing app can scan the doser’s port and talk to it.

Hi all, does someone know why my KH with DSR EZ-Buffer is not dosing correctly? Tried to calibrate it several times. At that moment it is correcr, but during dosing it gets less. This is so frustrating....
