Coralife Biocube 29 Question

Hey all:

First, Happy Thanksgiving!! I have a Coralife Biocube 29. I have a small flame angel (among a couple other fish). When I went to check on the tank today, I couldn't find my flame angel. After searching the entire tank, I finally found him swimming in the chamber that holds the pump (he is doing fine now). Does anyone have any idea how he could have gotten back there / how to prevent this from happening again? The tank has all of its original parts and I always keep the lid closed.

I believed oceanic and coralife are the same tank
I owned a few,but mind 29 biocube HQI"open top"
