I was wondering in this t5 light would do a good job growing corals in a 20 gallon tank?

no Im sorry its too weak. We had trouble with them in 2.5 gallon pico reefs, Id recommend the ABI tuna off amazon, twenty bucks ish and guaranteed to grow.

What type of trouble did you have with them?
Grandis.

It's that black unit with two mini t5's in it right? They're 80% underpowered even for corals that are one inch below them. I used one for about two years straight on my reefbowl which is one gallon, and it required two accessory lights on each side while the top was dimly lit. Corals will extend towards its light I could not fathom any tank other than perhaps mushrooms planted at highest point that could tolerate it. They'll trumpet stretch the whole time

Today's LEDs are twenty five bucks and a hundred times stronger. Regardless of ratings on the box, I used one in 2008 and they're the single weakest reef light I can think of. I would prefer one quarter of today's $25 led intensity and spectrum to two of those mini aqua lights if you are talking the t5 version

12 w tuna abi from Amazon, best light for twenty five.

Any pictures of the bowl with the fixtures, please?
Grandis.

No so sorry didn’t have any from that long ago they’d be buried on an old laptop somewhere lemme look on nano reef.com to see if anyone used them back in the day
