Am I the only few that use coralife salt? I just switched over last month and I have tested freshly mixed at around 11 DKH, is this normal? I though it was supposed to be around 8.

I used to use Coralife salt and liked it but can no longer get it where I am, when I used it I found the alk was pretty consistent around 9dKH, what test kit are you using?

When was the last time you use it? I am using the Red Sea kit.

I haven't used coralife for a while but it used to be my go to salt for many years. Usually mixed at 9.6 dkh the calcium was always sky high 500+.

Got you, now at least based on my Red Sea test kit, alk at around 10.5-11 and ca450-470.

Mine always mixed up around 9 when I was using it.

Used to be my go-to salt about 10-12years ago too, in all honesty, it was probably the only decent product coralife made IMO, all their other products are junk

it used to mix up at 9dkh 450ca and 1370mg
they must have changed at some point because when I used it to setup my last reef it mixed much higher.

For those of you that stopped using it, what was your reason?

I moved and could no longer buy a years supply locally on boxing day. While I did order it on amazon a few times (as recently as 2018 I just checked). The price fluctuates a lot. Since these days I have no choice but to order online I just wait for IO to be cheaper than cheap and buy a bunch of boxes then. If I get close to running out it's still going to be cheap regular price. Coralife was always moderately priced and always mixed good. I probably used it mostly for at least 10 years although I did stray occasionally and use other salts. I still have a ton of coralife shirts!

I liked that the alkalinity is lower then a lot of other salts and the super high calcium meant at times I didn't even dose CA only ALK.

Started seeing it mix up too high, 10-11dkh 480+ cal.

when using automated methods of mineral replacement (dosers, calcium reactors) you want to use a salt mix thats matches your target parameters, because if you do waterchanges, your parameters will eventually match your salt mix.

Glad that I am not the only one seeing it high. I don’t dose two parts except 2.5 tablespoons of kalk via ato so I guess it ok for me. I typically do 10% water change weekly.

Petco has them for $43 a bucket for a while and quit often they got 30% off.

I stopped using it because they stopped selling it in Australia :(

hi guys my 30 year opinion ,not many agree even me,but salt is salt, i mix em together, switch brands by what i get my hands on ,running over 2000 gals, too complicated,

also ithink you are perfect dkh 10-11 cal 450 ,right where she runs the best

I stopped because RC went on sale for cheaper on amazon for a bit than the petco sale of coralife. It was around $40/bucket. If the prices flip when I need salt again down the road I wouldn’t hesitate to switch back. I like both, and so does my tank.

yep salt is salt

Petco has it for $43 a bucket. Quit often they run the $30 off, I got 3 for around $100 and I will get $5 reward credit. That’s under $33 a bucket.
