I am always struggling with my nitrates in a fish only tank.. Lately I have notice many spots of Coraline Algae growing on my live rock and glass.

Is this an indication "I Hope" that things are moving in the right direction or can the Coraline thrive in most any enviroment?? .

Thanks in advance

Nitrates are (were?) not likely the problem.

How are mineral levels and PO4 levels on average?

How old is the tank and how much light is over it?

If you have no light meter, download a lux meter app for your smartphone and find out at least what your peak lux is at the water surface.

"galactica luxmeter" for IOS is one good example, but there are a lot.

Post your results! :)

Thanks for the reply.

At this time no coral or inverts... fish only and thriving for many years.. never noticed coralline algae prior to a couple months ago..

My phosphates are normally 2.5 - 5 using API test kit. Nitrite zero but nitrates are always above 60 also using API test kit.

PH 8.4 DKH 10 Calc 450

Will definitely download the lux meter app... thanks for the heads up.
