For some reason I can't grow coraline algae in my tank which is an LPS tank.. I believe I have good parameters.

Alk: 10 (hanna Checker) (little high right now due to improper testing for a short stint)
PH: 8.4 (Pinpoint, airline tubing going outside, ph virtually never moves from what i can tell)
Calc: 1500 (Salifert)
Nitrate: 0 (Salifert)
Phosphorus Ultra low Range: 200 (weirdly high? but used the hanna ULR checker)

My skimmer grows coralline algae within and my tank is small with about 12g Display and a 20g long sump with great turnover. I was considering buying some Puple Helix but if coralline exists in my tank already but isn't growing then I figured since it exists it should grow wildly with good parameters?

Does Nitrate have an effect on coralline? Do i need to dose this and if I do will i get an algae bloom?
Filtration is 150 micron filter sock, skimmer, carbon and GFO(probably need to replace GFO)

How old is your tank? You can take what you have in the skimmer crush it up and sprinkle it in your dt to seed it. I wouldn’t buy any since you do have some. Just need to spread it around. The crush and sprinkle method is how lots of people seed new tanks to get it going.

Helix bottles are only to seed the tank but can take up to 3 months before you notice large patches. i would suggest going to a LFS and ask if they have any coraline chunks you can take instead as my local one gives it away for free to anyone who wants it.

It's most likely your nitrates, like any other algae it need it for food. So it probably only grows in your skimmer because that's the only source of nitrates in your tank. So dosing and then scraping some of the coraline off the skimmer and spreading it in the display might be your solution.

My guess would be is your nitrate/phosphate relationship. 0 nitrates is probably worse then 50 and the Hanna phosphorus checker maxes out at 200 so your phosphate could be higher then 0.613 which if is correct is quite high

Agreed, I used to be of the thought that low nitrates/phosphates were good but i just got some NeoNitro and started dosing. Curious to see the results but i hear nothing but good things. Also hearing that you can dose up to the target with no issues.
