My coraline algae has either gone from purple to dark green or has been replaced by dark green hard algae. Purple Coraline has also stopped growing elsewhere in the tank including on the glass.

This aquarium is seven months old. Alkalinity between 8.5 and 9.

What is this dark green encrusting algae? Photo was taken in daylight.

edit: Yes I plan to remove the vermetid snails.

So my coralline algae has gone through many many phases of new growth, death, color changes, and back to dark purple. Though I haven’t seen that dark green like that! Very interesting. Does sunlight hit the tank ever?

oooOh...sunlight. Yes. This may have started once I moved the tank closer to a window. By the way, I love looking at the corals under natural sunlight in the morning with my coffee. If this dark green algae is the result of natural sun, I’ll take it. There doesn’t seem to be any other nuisance algae growing as the result of the sunlight (if that’s the cause).

very neat to see coralline other than people, not saying the people looks bad. I used to have a bunch of blue in mine, but only a patch here and there
