I was wondering about getting it going in my glass ....
I clean my tank on a daily basis because of my head / OCD / anxiety issues ....
As soon as I see my back glass getting brown and what not everyday I'm in it cleaning it off ...

If I want the coraline algae on my back glass should I just leave it be ... The brown shaded stuff that just happens with light and what not .... So that coraline can eventually start forming.

It's in all my rock and snails and powerheads but since I'm always cleaning glass because algae I u don't want coraline isn't happening ...
Do I just bare with the funk until it forms ...

Personally I would keep cleaning it off the back glass. I just cant because of all the rock.

Your tank is new and going to go through some funny phases of various algaes, so at some point the coraline will take over if you dont keep scraping it.

The other algae will win over the coralline as it is a faster grower. Get those nutrients under control, which can take some time with a new set up and the coralline will take off. The other thing is coralline only grows on the glass in my tank, that is getting quite a bit of light.

I don't scrape the back glass of my aquarium at all as I want it covered in coraline as well. I took a rock that was covered in coraline and scrapped a bunch of the coraline off with a knife to "seed" my tank. The first place it started to grow was on the plastic overflow box. Now the back of my tank is almost fully covered. Took it about a year though, so be patient.

Awesome .... All my tanks over the years I've never had on glass ....
I can't help but clean all the nasty stuff off
Guess ill try leave alone for while and see what happens

I did scrape the back glass everyone once in awhile when my tank first started but the areas that I never scrapped seem to have grown it first... Hope it works out for ya.

Mine ONLY grows on my back glass. It's on the power heads and other plastics also but it doesn't seem to like my rock so far. I go around and clean any unwanted growth off the back every couple weeks but it doesn't seem to bother the Coraline too much.

I think having the urchin in my tank really helped it spread to my glass and overflows. I have never cleaned my back glass and its pretty covered.
