Coraline and locations to grow

Odd topic I know.

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light or share some knowledge.

Coraline grows pretty much anywhere the water touches...
Glass
plastic
rocks

plastic it grows on very very quickly and I can kinda understand why with it being not really smooth when you get extremely close to it.

glass I can see why sometimes that last.

rocks makes sense


BUT here is my question
why does it grow in one random spot. IE on my powerhead guard... or top right back wall plastic..

doesnt bother me, just curious really.

I would just say environment, such as power heads are black and adsorbs more light so it grows there. I could not grow coraline with my old lights and with my current light the coraline is starting to grow everywhere.

I don't know what makes it choose to deposit. When I ran power compact lighting this is how much coralline grew. It would blot out the whole vase opaque and these were the areas scraped clean mos prior


But ff 16 years and with LEDs none grows on my glass, yet none ever dies off the rocks it's as purple as ever it is the strangest organism for sure.
