I'm absolutely shocked to find coraline growing on the glass of my new 125 gal. It was set up with water and cycle started Feb 13th. And yes, it is coraline. Have to use my flipper to scrape it off. I started with all dry rock but the sump has rock that had been in a display refugium and that has coraline.

Is it typical for coraline to appear so quickly? What does it mean to the system as a whole? It is a sign that things are pretty stable? Or has no meaning and just is.

Tank has some diatoms that come and go--cuc seem to be keeping it under control--and some light/bright green on the rock that I know is a pre coraline stage. My other tank all the rocks turned green before going purple. And it took that tank at least 8-10 months to see it on the glass. Maybe a bit longer even. Haven't had the really ugly stages yet. maybe I wont?

Just so surprised to find this this soon. And not just a spot or two. Lots of spots on the glass along the length.

I had spots appearing after about a month and a half as well but they receded and it took another month or so for it to start coming back.

Everything stayed stable (As far as major parameters) so i'm unsure as to why but hopefully yours stays!
