When it dies ..for the most i Will see iT turn white after ive Cleaned my powerheads in vinigar and it then turns white .

Bad water quality would be one , something eating iT would be another ... what are Your parameters at ..have u noticed anything else in your tank .. how are your corals doing ??can you give us some more info over your tank ?
Some can also die from too much light. Some appear to be lower Light lovers.
Like Jason mentioned , both sub par water and contaminants will also kill it.
If it does off prettt fast , I’d say there. Is room for concern.

Turning white just around the edges of a sheet, or with little dots of white on it is also a sign of growth.

Probably not the best right now. Thinking salt level might be to low for one. So water change is in order for tomorrow. Don' have very many corals right now. Just got new lights and tried to put the canopy on the tank only to find out that when they put the tank on the stand that the stand got pushed back and the canopy does not fit. Trying to rig something up this weekend so I can get the new lights on the tank. Running very old lights right now.

It’s important too test regularly and keep results especially in the beginning first year or so till the tank has matured and become more stable , this way it’s easier too see where things start going wrong or outa wack ,there are some good apps out there for this ... or just a note pad and pen even ..
and remember there’s no such thing as a dumb question , it’s beter to ask and get good advise than not too in my opinion,
