Hey guys I was posting this in hopes someone could ID it? I think it may be coraline algea starting, my tank is reaching the 4 month mark but I’m just not sure !

Well, can’t really tell from the pic. It might be. I’m at the 4 month mark also but my tank was seeded (by me) so I kind of got a head start. Here’s what my growth looks like for comparison

Does it clean off easily?

Looks pretty similar. I will keep an eye on it and see what the growth pattern.

Yeah what Jekyl said. If it is hard to scrape off, like a crust, it is more than likely coralline

Are they a problem?
not at all, they are a normal part of reefing, you'll always have some, more so on new systems, but overflow boxes and sumps tend to collect them most as they aren't cleaned as often.

your coralline will start to show up on plastic (such as power heads/return nozzles) in high flow areas first 99% of the time, not on the glass.

Coraline sounds and feels like scraping plaster off a window.
