Hi guys, has anybody ever used Reeflowers Coralline Algae Accelerator?? I was actually looking for Caribsea Purple Up but lfs only have the Reeflowers alternative.
I'm a little wary as its selling for less than half price of the caribsea!!

You would be better off by using some kalk in your top off water. Start with 1 tsp. per gallon of RO/DI water, you can go up to 2 tsp. per gallon. I prefer Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime if you can get it. What are your other param's?, i.e. NO3, PO4, Ca, Alk and Mg?

Ok thanks, it's just I've seen plenty of reviews with the caribsea and everybody seems pleased with the results. Can't find any reviews on the reeflowers.

I have been using the Purple Up for about two weeks. My dry rock has certainly gotten darker, but not really purple. I have noticed increased growth on the back wall - especially on the overflow. I am having a very hard time getting it off. In addition, I started dosing a more concentrated kalkwasser to try to address a low pH issue. So, perhaps between the 2 I will start to get the coralline algae to grow.

I've used purple up in the past. Honestly, as long as you keep your parameters as consistent reef levels, coralline should naturally grow. I have found when using purple up that I got a rich purple algae and upon ceasing it the algae maintained a lighter pink hue. I don't know that the product really "accelerates growth" or promotes growth in unstable conditions, but it may provide elements that allow for rich colored coralline. Just be careful what you wish for. Coralline is pretty and an indicator of a stable tank, but when it's growing all over your glass, pumps, etc - it can also be a pain to deal with. Unlike other algaes, coralline is tough to get off and you can damage even glass tanks and equipment trying to remove it. My recommendation would be to let coralline occur naturally, offering you time to control it as you see fit.

I used the stuff from Kent. Didn't really notice a difference.
